Selected Works of Thomas McGlynn IV

Toss Up bronze, 6", 1969

In 1969 McGlynn returned to a subject dear to his youth--the horse and rider. He called the small sculpture Toss Up, for it shows the rider being tossed up in the air by a rambunctious horse.

This sculpture, alive and refreshing, manifests the ease with which Tom could turn from pious to secular subject matter.

Pierre Toussaint, bronze medallion, 12" dia., 1976,
the last sculpture of Thomas McGlynn.

McGlynn is shown with Richard A. McAlister, O.P., who established the Providence College Pietrasanta Program with McGlynn at Tom's Pietrasanta studio. The Archdiocese of New York commissioned the medallion as they are petitioning for the beatification of Pierre Toussaint.
