Psalm 83                                                                                                    Not used

My God, what god is like you? * Be not silent, be not still, O El.

For see how your enemies make noise, * and those who hate you lift their heads.

Against your people they lay crafty plans, * and conspire against your treasure.

They say: “Come, let us wipe them out as a nation, * let the name ‘Israel’ be heard no more.”

Yes, they plan together with a single mind, * your assailants make a pact:

The nation of Edom and the Ishmaelites,

that of Moab and the Hagarites, * Byblos with Amalek,

Philistia and the people of Tyre. * Even Assyria has joined them.

Deal with them as with Midian and Sisera, * as with Jabin at the river Kishon.

Let them be destroyed from the face of the earth, * and be manure for the ground.

Make their princes like Oreb and Zeeb, * and like Zebula and Zalmunna all their chiefs,

who said, “Let us seize for ourselves, * the best of their land.”

My God, make them like tumbleweed, * like chaff before the wind.

Like a fire burning the forest, * and flames devouring the mountain side,

pursue them with your storm, * and with your hurricane rout them.

Fill their faces with shame * and may your name be avenged, Yahweh.

May they be shamed and defeated * forever * may they perish in disgrace.

Let them know that you bear the name ‘Yahweh’, * you alone are the Most High over all the earth.
