I have been researching the history of the rosary and have found the internet to be a helpful, yet not quite definitive, tool. I’m so happy you are on facebook to spread the Word. I have discovered in my research that Blessed Alan de la Roche is now a canonized saint. I have tried to let Wikipedia know this. Wikipedia needs “references” for me to site in order for my work to continue its publication on its pages. I think St. Alan’s contribution is very important. I believe he and his work should be properly referenced. I notice that there is confusion about what name to reference when trying to find information. I have discovered these: St. Alan, Blessed Alan de la Roche, Blessed Alain de la Roche and Alanus de Rupe. “de la Roche (french)” and “de Rupe (latin)” mean “of the Rock”. Alan means “rock” too. I think these references are highly important when you consider Jesus’ words to Peter: “…and upon this rock I will build my church.” There is also some confusion about St. Alan’s feast day. He was born and died on Sept 8th (Feast of Mary’s Nativity). Some sources say his feast day is Sept. 8, some say Sept. 9 and a church named after him (St. Alan in Troy, Michigan) says October 26th. Dear Dominican Order, can anyone help me to give the secular world a reliable written reference in a published document verifying that what I am saying is true (that Blessed Alan has been canonized) and what his actual feast day is? Then we can put the information on Facebook, Wikipedia, Saint Listings of all kinds and even Google for all the world to find! Until I hear from you, I remain, Your graduated student from Dominican High School and catechist/rosary maker, Elizabeth Hennigan
