The PDF files on this site were generated from an XML source file in the OSIS 1.1 format available at CCEL. The source file was produced through the kindness of Sandra K. Perry, Perrysburg, Ohio. Several changes have been made to the original file in order to produce these PDF files.

Two perl scripts utilizing the expat XML parser turned the source XML file into all the various kinds of output. The first script generated the webpages from the XML file. The second script translated the XML file into multiple LaTeX files which were processed by pdflatex.

The documents were typeset using the LaTeX document preparation system, based on the TeX typesetting system developed by Donald Knuth. The teTeX TeX distribution, obtained from the Fink project, was used for the actual typesetting. pdflatex was used to translate the LaTeX source files directly into PDF files. TeXShop was used to test various TeX constructs. The documents were typeset in Times since this font family is guaranteed to be present in any PDF reader.

BBEdit was used to edit the perl scripts and the XML file when needed. Other than BBEdit, all of the software used to produce these documents is available for free. The entire process was performed on an Apple iBook running Mac OS X.
