If a term has A. One meaning, it is univocal. B. Many meanings, it is equivocal: 1. if these meanings are connected with each other a. by a similarity 1) which is essential, they have an analogy of proper similarity or proportionality 2) which is accidental, they have analogy of improper similarity or proportionality or metaphor. b. by some other connection, they have analogy of connection or attribution. 2. if these meanings are unconnected with each other, they are purely equivocal.
