
On March 15, 2009, Brother Dominic Leo Rothering, O.P., died peacefully in his sleep at Blessed Sacrament Priory in Madison, Wisconsin. Brother Dominic was the son of the late Leo Peter Rothering and Ethel La Bresh Rothering. He was a native of Minnesota. He is survived by his sister Doris Porter and many nephews and nieces. He made his religious profession as a Dominican friar in 1946. He served in Illinois, Kansas and Iowa before he was assigned to Blessed Sacrament Priory in Madison where he was the Director of Special Religious Education for many years and a tutor in the parish school until his health limited his ability to serve. On October 16, 2009, he celebrated his 90th birthday with the children of the parish school. He was devoted to young people and was noted for remembering all the children’s birthdays with a card.
On Friday, March 20th, there will be visitation in Blessed Sacrament Church, 2131 Rowley Avenue from 5:00PM until 6:30 PM, when the Office of the Dead will be recited. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church followed by burial in the Dominican Friars plot in Resurrection Cemetery.

Wow- I remember him from when I was in the 1st- 2nd grade in 1976. He would give us prizes along with Sister Mary for memorizing scriptures.
