Dear DSAF applicant,

In answer to your on-line request for funding from the DOMINICAN SOCIAL ACTION FUND please download and read our "Guidelines" which indicate clearly the criteria that must be met by a group or agency submitting a project for funding. IF your project meets these criteria than download the application. Please note it is in PDF format so you will need a PDF reader, Adobe Acrobat Reader for example (available free of charge at www.adobe.com), in order to correctly print the application.

When submitting your proposal be sure to indicate how you hope to fulfill the criteria and guidelines in specific terms. It is understood, of course, that not all proposals that satisfy the guidelines would necessarily receive funding.

Priority is given to projects within the boundaries of the Dominican Province of

St. Albert the Great (MI*, IN*, MO*, IL*, WI*, MN*, IA*, KS, NB, SD, ND*, WY, CO*, NM*, *=states where men from the province are presently ministering). Priority is also given to  projects with direct Dominican Order involvement. In 2001 no grant was given that did not fit into one of these two priorities.

When submitting the application, it is very important that you answer ALL the

questions indicated under section A “Attach a narrative statement describing:” on page two of the application If some of this information is missing, your application will not be considered when grants are awarded, for it

will be impossible to evaluate your project adequately in relation to the

projects from other applicants.

Concerning sections 2.1 and 2.2 of the application form, it will be

necessary to send only ONE copy of the information requested in this section.

With the exception noted above, FIVE copies of the entire application form

including page 1 and the short narrative statement response to section A on page

2 are to be sent to the above address, together with the single copies of the

matter requested under 2.1 and 2.2.

The deadline for submitting proposals for funding is April 1. The committee meets in May or June and projects approved for funding will receive their grants shortly thereafter

The DOMINICAN SOCIAL ACTION FUND is a quasi-endowed fund. The endowment is

expected to generate close to $20,000 in interest income for grants. Since there

is not a lot of money to distribute the Committee is unlikely to award a large

sum of money to any one project. The usual amount granted is $3,000-$5,000 but

it has been less.

Sincerely,

Steven Kuhlmann, O.P.
