Welcome to the Dominican Central Province.

The Province of St. Albert the Great in the USA. We are a Roman Catholic religious order of men officially called the Order of Preachers. Our provincial headquarters are located in Chicago, Illinois. As the United States Central Province, with 200 members, we minister primarily in the Midwest, but our work extends throughout the world. Our ministries span from Albuquerque to Detroit, from St. Louis to Minneapolis, then on to Bolivia, France, Switzerland, Rome, and Nigeria and Kenya.

Our mission is preaching.

The following pages demonstrate that this preaching takes place in a wide variety of settings: in diocesan offices, in parishes, on college and university campuses, in schools, in hospitals, through the arts, in the missions, among the poor, on the road, and in various other specialized fields.

Mission Statement of the Province.

The Dominican Friars of the Province of Saint Albert the Great communicate the word of God through preaching, theological education and the promotion of justice and peace. This mission in the body of Christ demands a vowed community life, liturgical prayer and life-long study.

Fr. David Wright, O.P.

““What I love most about being studentmaster is that the students encourage me, inspire me, and sometimes even force me to want to be a better Dominican.””

A proud son of Eagle Grove, Iowa, Father David has put both a passionate love of music and a keen expertise in liturgy to the use of the province and the church for more than four decades. He earned his Ph.D. in theology with a concentration in liturgical studies from Notre Dame in 1977. Read More
